Defiant Mobile Complex

All that remains...

See? Didn't I tell you that the Defiant works well as a photographic background? But the gantry doors are gone now, off to complete another Defiant Complex of another GI Joe collector. I've heard stories of how brittle the gantry doors have become over time. I'm glad that I was able to keep these in good shape.

While not particularly useful as diorama pieces, these crawler wheels are pretty damn impressive. The worst of them was that they squeaked and squealed when the crawler was pushed. I really can't imagine how kids actually played with the dang thing.

"Hey dad," nine year old Timmy calls out, "Me and my friends want to play with the Defiant outside! Would you carry it out for us?"

Really, Timmy, you're going to put your dad through that again?

This is the "engine" of the Booster. It's a flat piece that goes along the base of the booster body. Play value comes first before logic and sense. hell, it's a toy, get over it!

It's a damn cool looking piece and would make a great backdrop for any action figure photo.

The bridge of the Booster section - Holy Crap, this is awesome!

Even if this is one piece that has generally remained intact for most Defiant owners, it's still an extremely well made piece. Tons of detail!

I think this is the right rear walkway of the crawler. The left rear walkway has been sold. Just cool bits of detail everywhere.

Maybe the radiator of the Crawler? I'm not sure what it was supposed to be, but it does have potential as set dressing in a diorama.

I think this was a suspended animation type unit in the medical bay of the booster. The door slides all the way into the wall. A great potential set piece in a science lab?

I think this is right next to the medical bay. More detail. Someone with better painting skills could make this stuff look really sharp.

The cockpit of the crawler loaded with detail. I know this would work somewhere in somebody's diorama.

The right and left (or left and right) laser coolant panels from the belly of the booster. I imagine that these powered the external "laser" guns of the booster.

One of two of the gun stations from the booster.
"Nice job, kid. Don't get cocky."

These are the left and right sections of the interior of the booster that allowed the "station" to raise itself up out of the belly of the booster. More great detailing on these pieces.

This is the left center section in the booster belly. Loads of detail that would just pop with some skilled painting.

This is the right center section in the booster belly. A nice paint job with some cool screen graphics for those monitors would look nice!

I believe this is supposed to be the engine room for the crawler. The two bays in the crawler were both loaded with loads of detail.

I believe that this is supposed to be launch control. Only an imaginary heat shield/deflector could save the launch crew from a fiery death.

I'm a bit tormented at the moment. I'd like to try my hand at creating a cool diorama that would incorporate many of these parts, mainly because it's just tough to find stuff like this that just work so well as set dressing.

There's a few other pieces that I'm going to sell. I'll just hold off for now on most of these pieces featured on this page.
