I’m currently in my 7th year as the Engineering Teacher at Liberty Middle School and the dedicated VEX IQ coach.</span></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Last year’s competition involved the second worst phone call of my entire life.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I received a call that my dear friend, my lifelong friend, my best friend since 8th grade, was missing. He had left his home, left his wife and daughter at home, on what was usually just another Saturday morning coffee/breakfast run… and was gone for far too long.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">After much panicking and desperation, I got that horrible phone call. My best friend had been found and he had taken his own life.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Damn it.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I had know Alan Lance since 8th grade. We had met in 8th grade Georgia History class under the aged instruction of one Blanche Bomar at Morrow Junior High, way back in the mid 1970’s. I was a basically unpopular weirdo and Alan was a chunky unpopular weirdo. We were meant to be best friends.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">A common love of comic books and science fiction cemented our friendship. Alan actually introduced me to this odd paperback that he picked up in 1976 involving some movie that was coming out the following year. Something called Star Wars. We saw the first… and the last Star Wars movies together.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">The MCU arrived with Iron Man in 2008 and our mutual love of comic books had come to life. There were no bad MCU movies. Some were great. Some were… meh…. But they represented our love of comics come to life and they were, maybe flawed at times, still a helluva' lot of fun.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I need to pause a bit and go back and reflect along this nearly 48 year old friendship between Alan and myself and the friends that joined us in our journey together.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Alan introduced me to two of his friends, David and Joe Weir, brothers from across the street. David was one year higher than Alan and I, while Joe was one year below us. It didn't really take too long before we all became close friends, the "fab four" of sorts.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Alan, David, and Joe had been members of the Masonic organization for young men, the Order of DeMolay. We shared some amazing, wild adventures during our time together. We all went on two different graduation trips, one after David graduated high school and then one the next year after Alan and I graduated. Myrtle Beach and Panama City Beach, but I don't really recall which came first.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Eventually, life and growing up began to take hold. No more cruising up and down Hwy 54 from Morrow to Forest Park. Fewer and fewer trips to the local Putt Putt or assorted midnight movies. We did lots of dumb stuff in our teenaged years, but none that ever involved law enforcement, so that was good.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Our popularity with females was tentative at best. There were always the Rainbow Girls, the girls organization supported by the Masons and the Eastern Star. No serious relationships ever developed.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Finally... girlfriends showed up. Joe actually introduced me to a young lady who would become my lovely wife of these past 38+ years. Slowly but surely, we all found girlfriends and we all got married. And our lives continued to drift apart. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Whenever we did have a chance to reconnect, it was like little time had passed and we were, again, the "fab four".</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Alan and I remained fairly close for many years, but there were times, when years had passed and we barely spoke. But when we did, it was an easy and comfortable reconnection.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Alan's first marriage ended and he later married a wonderful woman, with whom they produced an amazing daughter, much to Alan's 40+ year old surprise!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">My wife and I eventually moved up to the north side of Atlanta and were actually a little closer to easier meetups with Alan. Our 'grab a beer' meetups or movie nights were always relaxed. We'd talk about silly stuff for a while, Marvel movies, Star Wars stuff. We'd talk about family and work. Alan always seemed a bit self deprecating, sometimes poking fun at himself somewhat humorously.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">But there were deeper issues with Alan that I had somehow missed over our decades long friendship. We were close, but not close enough for me to realize that he was struggling.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I have since learned of some of what Alan was putting himself through and it wasn't pretty. For want of a better term, he had some demons preying on his soul. And I never knew until it was too late. Depression, low self esteem, medical issues, not wanting to be a burden. But the pain that he may have thought that he would be freeing his family from isn't gone, it is only transferred into a wholly different and more devastating pain.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">The date when Alan ended his life was January 21, 2023, which is now a Sunday in 2024. While that will still hurt every year, the third Saturday of January will always resonate most with me. Maybe he planned it specifically for that Saturday morning, I'm not sure. There's too many missing pieces to the mystery of my friend that I will never know.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">As I write this one year out, there's still intense sadness and loss. There's also fading anger... at him, at his family, at myself... but that's just destructive and pointless.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">David Weir, our dear friend along this amazing journey, dropped everything and came from California for Alan's memorial service. We tried to make some sense of it, but there really was none to be found. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">David summed things up the best:</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">"<i>I don't think we'll ever really understand. The best I'm hoping for is to not have the end of this proverbial two-hour movie color my memory of how enjoyable was its' first one hour and 59 minutes</i>."</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Tough to get past that last minute on this third Saturday of January, but I'll work on it, one day at a time.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I've got a long day ahead of me, cheering on my students as they strive for a spot at the Robotics State Championship. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">When I get home, I'll pour myself a glass of whiskey and raise a toast to my dear friend, Alan Lance.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">I miss you, my friend.</span></p><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">"How I wish, how I wish you were here<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">We're just two lost souls<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Swimming in a fish bowl<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Year after year<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Running over the same old ground<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">What have we found?<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">The same old fears<br /></span><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">Wish you were here"</span></div><p><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: medium;">*if you or someone you know, is struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide, please, please, please... reach out to someone.</span></p>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-86839044319897189332023-06-17T08:00:00.061-05:002023-06-17T08:00:00.129-05:00A Bunch of Random GI Joe Classified Troops<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Let's take a quick look at a few random GI Joe Classified figures.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglj8e8UhoNPK-VR9ngd9KqMe65y3Mn9JyukUYZ7OjLH3KymJo6WE_hbgUSxFYxSC1Eux-a0OiGX6Qxmn2FW4JXghSzHdaTg4_k-_G00FtsUDIXT1CAGvgLQuqY6eMgRnfq_DqSvirGxCt18T7z8f6z3_2hsvpHGtdpT04mjW5uL4mFD2J_xSARJYMsYg/s1200/Outback.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="724" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglj8e8UhoNPK-VR9ngd9KqMe65y3Mn9JyukUYZ7OjLH3KymJo6WE_hbgUSxFYxSC1Eux-a0OiGX6Qxmn2FW4JXghSzHdaTg4_k-_G00FtsUDIXT1CAGvgLQuqY6eMgRnfq_DqSvirGxCt18T7z8f6z3_2hsvpHGtdpT04mjW5uL4mFD2J_xSARJYMsYg/s320/Outback.JPG" width="193" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div style="text-align: center;">This version of Outback is based on the European Tiger Force version from back in the o-ring days. This is actually the third version of Roadblock to come out in the Classified line. The first was based on the 2nd o-ring version, but it didn't really look right; the head sculpt just didn't work for Roadblock. The 2nd Classified version was a bearded Roadblock who actually works much better as Heavy Duty than Roadblock.</div><div style="text-align: center;">This particular version is an Amazon exclusive and is just amazing. So exceptionally well done! Excellent range of articulation. Great accessories. He even comes with his eagle, Freedom, with two sets of wings! I've heard that Hasbro consulted with Native Americans on his design. If true, that proved to be a very wise move on the part of Hasbro.</div></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgis1FrohklfLR9VWUf5znpWnnCbmoNpKwx4lcdkesZRF0DFAc-1Wp5OhtZ1Xv1F_UI0rZXVLnIKKIPb5J8BtZxRGlxYy-yROPPCgPeipIDb5sFoO0Q_yIxZH645WRTQyiLex5Mt4DiLnLnE-yl0SrElxFR-r0Td9je2JSlRTbEcy3cFRThB-6clL_ClQ/s1200/Stalker.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="725" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgis1FrohklfLR9VWUf5znpWnnCbmoNpKwx4lcdkesZRF0DFAc-1Wp5OhtZ1Xv1F_UI0rZXVLnIKKIPb5J8BtZxRGlxYy-yROPPCgPeipIDb5sFoO0Q_yIxZH645WRTQyiLex5Mt4DiLnLnE-yl0SrElxFR-r0Td9je2JSlRTbEcy3cFRThB-6clL_ClQ/s320/Stalker.JPG" width="193" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div style="text-align: center;">We'll wrap thing up today with a look at Stalker. They've both had their share of minor controversy across the GI Joe fandom. Let's take a look at Falcon first.</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtrvPsUA5OM-y6Iw26WiwrT4yGvc1vvvzLFg73-njwIN7Ht874VZUm9IwoOFm9xF_jxeFTo8dJVgxFs_gfnOKhkRPG1Qqji64kQ6CL7qGx645tMoMZRZMHEOu3PNKnB7MKgFJVdjEyfLNjOOPS13HBFq22jKYYvr_aOhWtkcmd4GZOB-6LPN4xL9vq0A/s1200/Falcon.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="703" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtrvPsUA5OM-y6Iw26WiwrT4yGvc1vvvzLFg73-njwIN7Ht874VZUm9IwoOFm9xF_jxeFTo8dJVgxFs_gfnOKhkRPG1Qqji64kQ6CL7qGx645tMoMZRZMHEOu3PNKnB7MKgFJVdjEyfLNjOOPS13HBFq22jKYYvr_aOhWtkcmd4GZOB-6LPN4xL9vq0A/s320/Falcon.JPG" width="187" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;">Falcon is one of my favorite GI Joe characters from the entire roster of characters. Easily a Top 5 pick! My opinion is largely based on the original figure and his file card. Not his GI Joe: The Movie appearance or his appearances in the DiC cartoons. I don't really recall seeing him that much throughout the original GI Joe comics.</span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">In my own personal weird GI Joe world, Falcon is in no way related to Duke. That whole scenario was another of the many dumb elements of the animated movie. No thanks.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">The biggest issue that most fans seem to have with this figure is that he's a bit... ugly. He doesn't have that clean, ruggedly handsome look of his animated counterpart, nor is he the bland, generally featureless face of the original figure.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Wow... a bunch of balding, overweight, out-of-shape, middle-aged men complaining about Falcon being ugly. That's hilarious! Although, I will have to admit that Falcon is a bit...not so attractive. So what? Big deal! I think that he's got some character to his face. My biggest issue with this version of Falcon is that his lips are just a bit too pink. Maybe he borrowed some of Cover Girl's colored lip balm?<br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRHFHrCjpwCsLsQcmgfDdmEValPeSYYRnDyfnoCTSi3CNZmtgCrMJ6qS7eaFOl4mynxwQj9G2I-NvLlg5JRwJ8P39QaxEYL04HP7DCD_mvWC0mMCV96wqgMCUo1hSbqSCxe9ehewMf0QxmqsT6i3SH0lIQL48zlnOZxYYRd7Spc0lb_tlnJp6_Liifcw/s1200/CoverGirl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="669" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRHFHrCjpwCsLsQcmgfDdmEValPeSYYRnDyfnoCTSi3CNZmtgCrMJ6qS7eaFOl4mynxwQj9G2I-NvLlg5JRwJ8P39QaxEYL04HP7DCD_mvWC0mMCV96wqgMCUo1hSbqSCxe9ehewMf0QxmqsT6i3SH0lIQL48zlnOZxYYRd7Spc0lb_tlnJp6_Liifcw/s320/CoverGirl.JPG" width="178" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;">Speaking of Cover Girl, let's take a look at the Classified version (OMG!!! Hasbro is going to make a Classified scaled Wolverine!!! **fan boi freak out). To be honest, I'll have to go to an obscure Monty Python bit in regards to the original figure. </span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">"Now that's my wife."<span> "A bit ugly, though, sir."<span> "What do you mean... ugly?"<span> "You know... not attractive to men, sir." Yeah, Hasbro tried back then to give Cover Girl some fashion model looks, but it didn't work out so well back in 1983. Decent enough for the time.</span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span><span><span>Many fans seemed to think that this new version of Cover Girl was also a bit ugly. Again, from the middle aged "hunks".</span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span><span><span>I think that she turned out quite well and is a well sculpted figure. Her face is very well done and is quite lovely.</span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><span><span><span>Both Falcon and Cover Girl are well done figures, but I think CG turned out better than Falcon. As usual, I waited and found a low cost figure of his first appearance in the show.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">The show is pretty dang amazing! There's bits of silliness here and there, but overall, I enjoy it.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4KbctbIxWlPfugXquPyiHPNrRSqBx4q0MqC7i0rC1YQAMTLMefoUdYFt5xJtc0hFMRkA0hKcZfALZAIBx0Rs30gDkBs3dbY0e5YICRRYcI9WNvMVQz7txJ2ThbORmWw88x8bbWpJEZNXsHFDJ16BtejJauOhb-I803Nw-bLWkZYg-qGDj7iH7wsVGHw/s1200/Mandolorian.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="723" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4KbctbIxWlPfugXquPyiHPNrRSqBx4q0MqC7i0rC1YQAMTLMefoUdYFt5xJtc0hFMRkA0hKcZfALZAIBx0Rs30gDkBs3dbY0e5YICRRYcI9WNvMVQz7txJ2ThbORmWw88x8bbWpJEZNXsHFDJ16BtejJauOhb-I803Nw-bLWkZYg-qGDj7iH7wsVGHw/s320/Mandolorian.JPG" width="193" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I like this look so much better than the fancy shiny Beskar armor. I distinctly remember buying the Sta Wars paperback novelization back in 1976, probably 8-10 months before the premier of the movie in 1977. My friend, Alan, told me about this amazing story about these guys that fought with laser swords and there was this huge battle station that was attacked with little fighter ships. Who knew, back in 1976, what Star Wars would become?</span></h4><p><span style="font-family: arial;">The last three movies, especially The Rise of Skywalker, were just terrible. Let's ignore those.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Let's look at a couple high points from recent years!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I'll start with "Solo: A Star Wars Story". I thought that this movie was fantastic! I had read several Han Solo "solo" novels back when Star Wars, Empire, and Return of the Jedi were fresh. Titles like Han Solo at Stars' End and Han Solo's Revenge. To me, Alden Ehrenreich, was perfect as a young Han Solo and could have/should have had a nice Han Solo franchise ahead of him. But there's a subsection of the Star Wars fandom that is absolutely a toxic nightmare.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJWCut7Phi5WclkJ6xmLPipBiV4YN8GeHgvzTesrQHvL-ffiNiEVuz3mxaanKGVHNge2Y5VnetkYiao8OaPH1_dHA8bRED1jUxUdeCn5sQt1JOvcUtfupWTVqWE2M5-Xrd1-5J2EkiXelhjqsYpMHo6XP3bdnFDZWeoRtQkyEvSyHq2v7TVJf4uokFnQ/s1200/HanSolo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="579" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJWCut7Phi5WclkJ6xmLPipBiV4YN8GeHgvzTesrQHvL-ffiNiEVuz3mxaanKGVHNge2Y5VnetkYiao8OaPH1_dHA8bRED1jUxUdeCn5sQt1JOvcUtfupWTVqWE2M5-Xrd1-5J2EkiXelhjqsYpMHo6XP3bdnFDZWeoRtQkyEvSyHq2v7TVJf4uokFnQ/s320/HanSolo.JPG" width="154" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The Han Solo figure is an excellent recreation of Alden and just works so well. He's got that swagger that's an essential part of the character!</span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYeiq4l2hxo_n33ezHT8oLD8jfCZNguY2wJk6B6KeSf9Rgm-WGcQV0irxZpuziaR7KbShSYg6pFyV_Xw9bOfTiXX8f_DnSZYyUCpi2tz1zU0sWzp6RH_JaxdqFw02JIsz0AcHyrNYY6iggIzjrahNobJ3RosbtHbjF5fXv4OSwrPzz_NkFMCJiMxn0SQ/s1200/Chewbacca.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="676" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYeiq4l2hxo_n33ezHT8oLD8jfCZNguY2wJk6B6KeSf9Rgm-WGcQV0irxZpuziaR7KbShSYg6pFyV_Xw9bOfTiXX8f_DnSZYyUCpi2tz1zU0sWzp6RH_JaxdqFw02JIsz0AcHyrNYY6iggIzjrahNobJ3RosbtHbjF5fXv4OSwrPzz_NkFMCJiMxn0SQ/s320/Chewbacca.JPG" width="180" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div style="text-align: center;">This particular version of Chewbacca turned out great as well! As mentioned in my previous post from almost a year ago, I've become mildly obsessed with 1/12th scale figures. Three properties currently hold my interest - GI Joe (of course), Marvel Legends, and Star Wars Black Series.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">My primary thought about collecting these assorted figures is that I am not a completist and only buy what I'm interested in and am trying not to get trapped in the FOMO mentality.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">HasLab has just recently started their next crowd funded project - a 1/12th scale Dragonfly attack helicopter. It's going to be over 2 1/2 feet long and it looks spectacular. I'm at a point in my life where finances aren't an issue and if I want it, I can get it.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">But do I really want it? So I'm 60 years old now. I live in a much smaller, paid-off house and my wife and I are content with the space that we have and the current progression of our lives. Retirment for her may only be a couple years away, while I could stick it out as an engineering teacher for at least 4-5 more years. It's a fun job and while my health is still decent, why not? </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Back to the helicopter... it's just so big. What would I really do with it besides have it displayed somewhere in our modest home. I feel pretty confident that I'll pass on it. Now if HasLab had done a 1/12 scaled version of the POC VAMP, then I would have been all over it! So much cool potential with that particular design!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Enough about my personal life stuff for now. Let's look at a few of the 1/12th action figures that I've acquired quite a few.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Let's start with a few Marvel Legends figures!</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKDHthgOYkYbPtRJ_Ei7uiF7smAREoZ4JcoMZRa1gvcAeojqx6GuyOxsks2Ee8IRwU-ihUzNweSeTWFJG-b8UT0VBn_GZ0jhrAOtLV2W50_ies3UP9S1rHyZzO2Isc3g8o2tYYH2bdI89c6wlahw4VYlnXs88AoCbPqU3pQoT0ie4mhKRoGOMkn-cZCg/s1200/AgentRoss.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="605" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKDHthgOYkYbPtRJ_Ei7uiF7smAREoZ4JcoMZRa1gvcAeojqx6GuyOxsks2Ee8IRwU-ihUzNweSeTWFJG-b8UT0VBn_GZ0jhrAOtLV2W50_ies3UP9S1rHyZzO2Isc3g8o2tYYH2bdI89c6wlahw4VYlnXs88AoCbPqU3pQoT0ie4mhKRoGOMkn-cZCg/s320/AgentRoss.JPG" width="161" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">First up is the Agent Ross figure from, I think, a Black Panther collection. Seriously, who wouldn't want a Martin Freeman action figure? He's got an excellent smirk on his face as well! I had the comics of Werewolf By Night where he was first introduced! I would have never imagined that Moon Night had become this popular.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I sent a picture of the figure in the box to my best friend from all the way back to 8th grade and texted him in December 2022 that I "needed" to buy this figure. He replied that I could "blame him" for making me buy the figure. Things changed quickly and this figure means a little bit more to me now.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">My friend, Alan, and I had grown up together with a love of comics and science fiction. We've known each other for around 47 years. There were times when, through the course of our own lives, we drifted apart, but whenever we reconnected, it was like nothing had changed. We watched the first and last Star Wars movies together. He was truly my best friend.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Was? Yeah, in January of 2023, Alan took his own life. He had been suffering from severe depression and it finally reached a point where he felt that he had nothing else to give. I miss him dearly and will weep for him for many years to come.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="769" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_riFsUBVRlvF7ujE4IM6jTeupgkZtqpUMRsHuAEKJE7RG-DPRo93BmNb7EffRD8sHIaBIKsDWx-kd8TzHlZqRbybD_PmP_Q9W05HdHsxihXw8y1iAtWsAMcWquvz-8uZOd4FxyaGZvC2SFLprkyj78NwqwOli6tNB8vuWCGloSg3F3UZDeOaob9e-QQ/s320/AdamWarlock.JPG" width="205" /></span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">So why am I wrapping up with the Adam Warlock figure from Guardians of the Galaxy 3? Well, here's another character that I was quite surprised to see him come to life in the MCU. Both Alan and I absolutely devoured nearly everything comic related to Adam Warlock back in the 80-s -90's. If there had been a way to introduce Him much earlier, it would have been amazing to see Warlock go up against Thanos.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">I bought Adam Warlock, not just because I dig the character, but also because Alan dug the character. I haven't actually seen GoG3 yet, but I would imagine that it will be heading to Disney+ pretty soon. I can wait...</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">I'm looking forward to seeing how Warlock is being introduced. Over two years since my last post<p><span style="font-family: arial;">Same basic excuses. Facebook and Instagram are too easy and I've gotten lazier in keeping up with this blog. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I thought that I would comment on my list of 12 items from my last post. Only the ones that are needing to be revisited.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Number 5: Thanks to Joe Biden, Obama is no longer the worst President ever. Obama drops to #2 far behind this cognitively impaired basement cadaver. I'm now viewing Trump, in my own JoeVerse, as the outsider intent on unmasking the Cobra infiltration into the government of the USA. Plus, the drunken old hag didn't get her righteous turn, so Trump had to be destroyed.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Number 6: still a horrific example of Cobra disruption into society. My pronouns are Kiss/My/Ass.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Number 7: <a href="https://www.marauderinc.com/">Marauder</a> still kicks ass. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Number 11: holy shit, I totally blew the call on this one. I'm hooked. I'll list the Classified figures that I've purchased sometime soon. Hopefully not two years from now. I didn't buy the HasLab Classified HISS tank, so I'm not totally hooked.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Number 12: Still true. Odd how his woman gets convicted of trafficking in under aged girls and yet no clients are mentioned. "They won't release the client list, because they are the client list."</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">So maybe I'll try to get this shitshow going again. No promises. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Hell, I'm hitting 60 years old in nine days. That's going to be worth a few posts. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Wrapping up time! #LetsGoBrandon</span></p>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0Georgia, USA32.1656221 -82.90007513.8067626613193859 -118.0563251 60.524481538680618 -47.743825099999995tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-43936151970963071402020-06-27T05:00:00.003-05:002020-06-27T05:00:03.047-05:00A Very Basic Outline<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggqlj_qfz83npomkcKMnTOMjU0guoToYSVCiNyu2AojWQS_1bK7pzd8P5g1iZKFUGw75RXGUeDZSdp63vc1vrnn4Um4iVYsacdC8YTrNvqk3IFkteHNN95fMJ9QKMhYpeXWE2Z0iHQZJvo/s1024/YoJoe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="1024" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggqlj_qfz83npomkcKMnTOMjU0guoToYSVCiNyu2AojWQS_1bK7pzd8P5g1iZKFUGw75RXGUeDZSdp63vc1vrnn4Um4iVYsacdC8YTrNvqk3IFkteHNN95fMJ9QKMhYpeXWE2Z0iHQZJvo/w500-h318/YoJoe.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><font face="arial">If you've followed this ridiculous blog, first off... I'm pretty sure "Marauder Task Force" is a licensed name, with Bill Nedrow being allowed to use it in his book. So I've got to come up with my own name of private military contractors. A few years ago, Amazon published some fan created stories featuring GI Joe characters. Bill's creation, Stiletto, was immortalized in plastic as an actual GI Joe figure.</font><div><font face="arial"><br /></font></div><div><font face="arial">He's been fairly prolific in his writing related to GI Joe and also <a href="https://www.marauderinc.com/default.asp" target="_blank">Marauder</a> figures. He created an entire world using characters that he created out of various Marauder offerings. Bill wrote a book, <a href="https://www.marauderinc.com/product-p/mtf-novel-001.htm" target="_blank">Marauder Task Force: Wrath</a>, that is still available on the Marauder website. It's a cool book and thoroughly enjoyable!</font></div><div><font face="arial"><br /></font></div><div><font face="arial">I've always thought about/considered writing stories from this weird mind of mine. If you've traveled through my blog, you've seen some pretty weird stuff.</font></div><div><font face="arial"><br /></font></div><div><font face="arial">I'm not promising much at this point, but I thought that I would at least give it a try. Male and female figures in suits. Honestly, they aren't very posable due to the constraints of the jacket, but who cares? They make for some awesome CIA, FBI, MIB, or other agency figures. Marauder even made an exclusive "Theodore" figure (3rd from left) inspired by John Wick. Works fine for me!</font></div><div><font face="arial"><br /></font><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3RmGZUwLY_OcJIo_U5WSqRJ4XQ_EFpL4Ax7kslM2Eq4H5MLvH-raBvKrEKbKUqy4U8MNTyUbsIwYGKm17QPOjiiL5OF0CSNl8J5AZSjnWiGQf8dxl1qOip1YampaC4hYE6SVZ4bC695bo/s969/IMG_5489.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="arial"><img border="0" data-original-height="871" data-original-width="969" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3RmGZUwLY_OcJIo_U5WSqRJ4XQ_EFpL4Ax7kslM2Eq4H5MLvH-raBvKrEKbKUqy4U8MNTyUbsIwYGKm17QPOjiiL5OF0CSNl8J5AZSjnWiGQf8dxl1qOip1YampaC4hYE6SVZ4bC695bo/s320/IMG_5489.JPG" width="320" /></font></a></div><font face="arial">Next up are the Contract Ops figures. They look amazing, but I'm not really interested in spending boatloads of money on them.</font></div><div><font face="arial"><br /></font></div><div><font face="arial">And then there's the dogs. It's Been Almost Two Years...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwhusARb4V5QcNUKVOpxj3Csp1Tya3X5EXW3O_kV2LdN4uW8XfTH4pNZysh8QmowwoKxY-Flq8E6MAmeXZTBUmxmICG2WmcG88nvW8NMcBhHpeA96UGbIAP6KE1ySayKWt0EfTqaScja96/s1600/WhatGoesOnHere.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="511" data-original-width="523" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwhusARb4V5QcNUKVOpxj3Csp1Tya3X5EXW3O_kV2LdN4uW8XfTH4pNZysh8QmowwoKxY-Flq8E6MAmeXZTBUmxmICG2WmcG88nvW8NMcBhHpeA96UGbIAP6KE1ySayKWt0EfTqaScja96/s320/WhatGoesOnHere.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Unbelievable... I used to really enjoy running this silly ass blog. I've had previous moments of laziness, but I don't think that it's been this long between posts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ultimately, the blame lies with me. Various social media outlets just make it too easy to post quick thoughts and ideas. iPhone cameras have become amazing in their quality and make picture taking easy and quick.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So...no promises, but I'm going to do my best to get this blog rolling again. There's been some amazing things happening over the past two years, at least as far as action figures go. The rest of the world is going full batshit crazy and I'm not going to address that... too much.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The main thing that has been a part of my toy collecting hobby has been the amazing product that has come from Marauder. Those new figures have been a driving force behind my imaginary world of toy soldiers.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But more on those later. For now, I'm back! Hopefully... (you'll need more posts as proof!)</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-7631293911193289432018-10-19T17:18:00.000-05:002018-10-19T17:18:20.554-05:00FSS 7.0 Wrap Up<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I've been in a bit of a funk when it comes to this silly ass blog. I suppose it extends to my collection of action figures as well. FSS 7.0 has all been shipped, probably a few weeks ago now. I'm just not feeling the excitement like I used to. Hell, maybe I'm finally growing up? I hope not.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I thought that I'd take a quick look at the rest of FSS 7.0 and give my brief thoughts on each of the figures. There will be no FSS 8.0 headed my way. I decided to let them slide. No issues financially, I just wasn't terribly excited by them. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So here goes... mostly in kinda random order.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Dreadnok Kaos - an original design by the Club? Maybe, I'm not sure and don't care too much. The figure turned out pretty decent. Not a bad use of the RoC parts, but not terrific. He'll make for some interesting pictures one day.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Dusty & Sandstorm - crap... blurry Dusty. I don't feel like taking another picture. So much outrage at the use of Falcon's head sculpt for this version of Dusty. I really don't see what else the Club could have done besides a new head sculpt and that wasn't going to happen. Decent build though. Yeah, Sandstorm is a pretty big coyote, but who really cares?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Cobra Commander in arctic gear... well, at least a nice winter coat. Not a terribly impressive figure and I don't really have much use for him, but it's still a decent build. Not bad, I like him well enough.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Budo - a much better build than the Retaliation version, at least as a combat soldier (sort of). The Retaliation version was fantastic as a traditional samurai and Hasbro had some interesting potential with that build, but... nothing. Oh, the Club had the helmet glued onto his head because it didn't fit securely. Sigh... </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> General Hawk w/ jet pack. Oh my, the outrage and butt-hurt that flowed based on the color palette. Yeah, he's a bit bright, more Funskool-ish, but again... so what? The build is pretty solid based on what the Club had to work with. Decent enough for me.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Excellent choice for the head sculpt. Everyone was hoping that the Club would be able to use this head and it works fantastic.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Tomax and Xamot or Xamot and Tomax. Whoever... The one with the bigger head is Xamot from FSS 5.0, I think... Good and bad about these two figures. First off, the heads are too damn big. The hands are not great either, I may need to switch them out with some other choices. And the damn holes in the feet don't fit on the stands. But it's still pretty cool to have the twins in suits!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> I had to switch out the heads with the originals from the 25th Anniversary 2-pack. Maybe too small now? Close enough for me!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Big Boa! No, it's actually Kangor, the South American repaint of Big Boa. Damn fine with me. For those hoping to sell their extra Big Boa figures from FSS 1.0, the market just dropped. This guy is now my Big Boa. Damn fine figure, one of the best overall from the Club. The kangaroo accessory is pretty dumb and has been dumped into the FSS figure spare parts bin.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Crystal Ball! Another of the Cobra crazies enters into the modern era. Either you loved him or you hated him. Either way, the Club did a solid job on this new version. Again, like most of the new figures with new head sculpts, the head is a bit too large. Still works just fine for me.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> Tiger Force Jinx - a Club original from their comic series. She also comes with a masked head sculpt that was previously used with Vypra and the SDCC Jinx figure. The new head sculpt turned out great.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtQmgfWEXYlQNp84pP7CT7bws7f6DBIEpKIA6YSen12CCEjW35u05gABCYRvlH2-Ggklzv3XcCMMRiHV22NacEcg8_PPI6Yo9jcJz3oJlMfBMkWjQe2IPIO_Hphe3p3-Jy0NbR_VTQHir0/s1600/IMG_5439.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="587" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtQmgfWEXYlQNp84pP7CT7bws7f6DBIEpKIA6YSen12CCEjW35u05gABCYRvlH2-Ggklzv3XcCMMRiHV22NacEcg8_PPI6Yo9jcJz3oJlMfBMkWjQe2IPIO_Hphe3p3-Jy0NbR_VTQHir0/s320/IMG_5439.JPG" width="187" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Tundra Ranger Stalker - another excellent figure from the Club. Everything came together nicely for this build. Stalker even comes with a repro of the kayak that the original figure came with. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbDVocvZZTkrpJIUcwfAZR1UFqpHn7H_ZhSC_JEWFPX-Lc0WGBf5a-wcedmgaN8JQeveos1us44VJTybDzCAJbi_yNl42puTn5xf-tYUadC0sownVp5iLJWR49ngQLl3Tq-Xu2J5y48r0d/s1600/IMG_5437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="773" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbDVocvZZTkrpJIUcwfAZR1UFqpHn7H_ZhSC_JEWFPX-Lc0WGBf5a-wcedmgaN8JQeveos1us44VJTybDzCAJbi_yNl42puTn5xf-tYUadC0sownVp5iLJWR49ngQLl3Tq-Xu2J5y48r0d/s320/IMG_5437.JPG" width="247" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hollow Point - the mystery 13th figure. A pretty big surprise for most people for the Club to choose a relatively obscure figure from the Built-to-Rule line. Great build from the Club. Sucks about the unfortunate typo on the stand. Oh well... </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hollow Point may possibly be my final Club figure. I've passed on FSS 8.0 and I'm less excited about the "Final 12" figures that the Club is working on. There's a Sonic Viper that looks amazing and I might "need" a couple of them, but that would mean also getting a couple of the Sonic Fighter Dodger figures as well.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There's also the three-pack of the Cobra Night Watch female troopers. They look good, but... do I really want them?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Interesting times for my personal collecting. Who knows what the future holds for GI Joe product?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One thing I do know. If I never buy another GI Joe figure, I'm content with what I have. I have enough.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="text-align: center;">Whoo Hoo! FSS 7.0 has been shipping! As of this blog post, the first two shipments have been made and have arrived safely. Here's a quick look at the first two.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Treadmark? Not Skidmark? Did they lose the use of the name or just not want to go with Skidmark again. Honestly, I totally missed the joke about Skidmark's name back when he first came out. Skidmark, you know, like when a car quickly accelerates and leaves rubber on the road. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Decent build by the Club, simple and effective. The use of the Renegades Cobra Trooper head as <strike>Skid</strike> Treadmark is easy and understandable. I know people get tired of those legs with holster and knife sheath being used over and over again, but Treadmark really could have used them this time. He comes with a pistol and knife and nowhere to put them.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Cobra Arctic Transport Officer turned out pretty amazing. I like the cold weather themed figures, but haven't really gone overboard in troop building any of them.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Visually, the figure looks amazing. His file card gives him a "real name" so technically, he's not a troop builder. Yeah, right. I'm keeping him anyway.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9mR9AB0BMwcWBilwPp0sgdqnI0ezehI_XnSM03vY0BUPZdpQ7OHj4jdR31NWynUC8JP4PZvURPPwdJvrruLrWXd1sCyzWFfXVOXPwHYZAhtbtMhzmmOtZMteRUhRXKqZBGRbpp7ywa-tD/s1600/IMG_5399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="888" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9mR9AB0BMwcWBilwPp0sgdqnI0ezehI_XnSM03vY0BUPZdpQ7OHj4jdR31NWynUC8JP4PZvURPPwdJvrruLrWXd1sCyzWFfXVOXPwHYZAhtbtMhzmmOtZMteRUhRXKqZBGRbpp7ywa-tD/s320/IMG_5399.JPG" width="236" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Solid build, but a few flaws. The helmet and goggles are a bit loose and the elbow joints seem to be a bit floppy. Not a huge deal to me, as this figure will primarily be on display all of the time.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Two more quick reviews on the way soon! </span></div>

I'm not sure who Raginspoon is or how many people make up Raginspoon, but I do know that they are making an amazing new product. I had only previously known of Raginspoon through their custom head sculpts for 1/18th figures. They've also done some different types of gear for 1/18th figures.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">But the Complex is brand new pure wonderfulness! Raginspoon has created modular kits that can be combined to create a larger environment. Each of the wall or door panels are reversible and work easily together. These first two pictures are from their JoeCon setup. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">It's a shame that GI Joe isn't active in the retail environment right now, because these work so well with 1/18th figures.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">I've actually dreamed of something kinda' similar to this concept. <span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Sadly, whenever I have dreams involving new or weird GI Joe products in whatever weird dream store that I'm in, I can never make it to a cash register...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Definitely more pictures to come with my use of the Complex sets. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Oh yeah, I'm going to need more sets...</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-1029188688954227792018-07-21T08:00:00.000-05:002018-07-21T08:00:00.185-05:00JoeCon 2018: Marauder Exclusive Figures<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Have I sung the praises of <a href="https://www.marauderinc.com/" target="_blank">Marauder Inc</a> lately? They do some amazing work and are leading the way in new 1/18th military figures. There's so much going on with these guys, it's tough to keep up!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Of course, they had a booth at JoeCon and of course, they had some amazing JoeCon deals. I really could have gone a bit nuts with them, but I limited myself to just two figures.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Each of these figures came with an amazing load of gear that can be used to customize your own figures. I had to work on them one day, put them away, and go back to them before I decided on my final build. Due to the small sizes of the pieces, you've got to super glue the bits together, so you've got to be sure of your designs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So here's a few pictures of my two JoeCon exclusive Marauder figures.</span></span><br />

Slaughter's Renegades! Great choice of characters by the Club! These appear to be almost the same builds as the Slaughter's Marauders BBTS set from several years ago. Minor changes.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQluoCDJS7DEz7SbwFAcdDjpOYDDO4t2sEcMxriWiNsmg6X1XfFuvU_CGveLIxMcCx6raqZux4hnwrNWk5Snhpwtg_-wixX9I4xhYpqJWPeDiUzaZKGAIfwGyQZUPjUtXDdWBquOKn1Sq_/s1600/IMG_5374.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="758" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQluoCDJS7DEz7SbwFAcdDjpOYDDO4t2sEcMxriWiNsmg6X1XfFuvU_CGveLIxMcCx6raqZux4hnwrNWk5Snhpwtg_-wixX9I4xhYpqJWPeDiUzaZKGAIfwGyQZUPjUtXDdWBquOKn1Sq_/s400/IMG_5374.JPG" width="302" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Mercer... one of my favorite characters from the entire GI Joe figure line. I've always really liked his back story. So much interesting story potential. I believe there's an improvement on the lower arms on this version of Mercer. He's got the improved hands. Not real crazy about the black hair over the original brown, but not a huge deal.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCMaTbnbMF4948_6J8q40BHiqUKxLQnFr4iufoO62sNtdQmduIONZOIcq1-89UUdTjnDT3ISy0OGwMmiVCE4cf54PdnFNXeN-vXzW1thS-24x1HGy6O0zcHtIo2to6iRPw_J0LVTKXxG9I/s1600/IMG_5375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="674" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCMaTbnbMF4948_6J8q40BHiqUKxLQnFr4iufoO62sNtdQmduIONZOIcq1-89UUdTjnDT3ISy0OGwMmiVCE4cf54PdnFNXeN-vXzW1thS-24x1HGy6O0zcHtIo2to6iRPw_J0LVTKXxG9I/s400/IMG_5375.JPG" width="268" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Red Dog looks to be the same build as his previous modern version. The Marauder color scheme works out just fine with his build.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXsx1mpnnpZ48B4TRKbgu7m8EFPOXb3MqYMUp849X9ct_eHuoEkmz-PDVTzarGiueJCVnuHowPA7BgUBbFL8IUz80QJbLwmfWK1HflOBubBSFOuWOpueNnTTslWWNgofePtkkNmW9SOrQx/s1600/IMG_5376.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="780" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXsx1mpnnpZ48B4TRKbgu7m8EFPOXb3MqYMUp849X9ct_eHuoEkmz-PDVTzarGiueJCVnuHowPA7BgUBbFL8IUz80QJbLwmfWK1HflOBubBSFOuWOpueNnTTslWWNgofePtkkNmW9SOrQx/s400/IMG_5376.JPG" width="260" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I think this might be a substantial new build for Taurus. Maybe, maybe not. I know he's got a new vest, which is much better that his original gear. Definitely an improvement for Taurus.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">That's pretty much it for me in regards to the Club offerings at JoeCon. There was an exclusive Cobra Snake Armor done in the Python colors that I'm sure I could have flipped, but I never really liked the Snake armor that much in the first place.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Oh wait... the factory glued them together... whoops! And no corrections coming from the Club... whoops! Maybe I'm glad I passed on the armor anyway!</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-83788581421546523602018-07-20T08:00:00.000-05:002018-07-20T08:00:10.982-05:00JoeCon 2018: Python Patrol<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next up is a look at the Cobra Forces from the Slaughter's Marauders JoeCon set. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp0hDg6SATXMYB5AUerAnxHgda7hOD84rEzFeoesic2T3CCiV_LsNw5zOm-RbzSq_tWRwCUe7Dn2DgwctWOIgca-_1M0hjELgUra4Lb2u5Intw-GBO4rHpQ2cu7Ct3jca5lwfrayjVUhTO/s1600/IMG_5377.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="742" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp0hDg6SATXMYB5AUerAnxHgda7hOD84rEzFeoesic2T3CCiV_LsNw5zOm-RbzSq_tWRwCUe7Dn2DgwctWOIgca-_1M0hjELgUra4Lb2u5Intw-GBO4rHpQ2cu7Ct3jca5lwfrayjVUhTO/s320/IMG_5377.JPG" width="197" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First up is the Python Para-Trooper. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><i><u>"No Children Were Harmed in the Acquisition of this Figure!"</u></i></b> I purchased mine at the Club Store and didn't trample any kids to get mine.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Club produced a three-pack of the the 25th Para-Viper in Python colors, but the price was enough to turn me off of it. I probably could have easily flipped them, but I didn't want the hassle. This is a decent build for the figure. Primarily parts from the 25th Para-Viper, but looks a bit more functional to me.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Club also produced a three pack of the SAW Vipers in Python colors. They looked decent, but the big stupid guns and the high price tag allowed me to pass on them. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">On to the figures from the boxed set.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8AcAQxMZK7Y-ccneJgNlSjs-8LXtshwPRMgifuxKMQwMkDEG0ERJfnh84VsCHwrNtSYNJHKmyyK0SXz4Q3JDxXBO-lNiXjyfvUUOxVtS-MyI6YX8ven9zr3KigMAdzCsjAJAaTZSXnJ5S/s1600/IMG_5378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1442" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8AcAQxMZK7Y-ccneJgNlSjs-8LXtshwPRMgifuxKMQwMkDEG0ERJfnh84VsCHwrNtSYNJHKmyyK0SXz4Q3JDxXBO-lNiXjyfvUUOxVtS-MyI6YX8ven9zr3KigMAdzCsjAJAaTZSXnJ5S/s320/IMG_5378.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Lampreys turned out nicely. The Python colors really look nice with the figure design. Fins? Why not? They look like that they could work as divers as well as drivers.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC2Reh0k2kv2LbsXDpUkVYjCZVFciiBMFn81zbK5eAsSowwDHtkdxFuMcwoQST_1MCDSbeRAT6goaCUuNETSa8CwfhrrnJJjgtTKzx3wWNZ7tG9aa8P1wptnXAkmW6TXPoNoeVg8pE5Aga/s1600/IMG_5379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1538" height="249" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC2Reh0k2kv2LbsXDpUkVYjCZVFciiBMFn81zbK5eAsSowwDHtkdxFuMcwoQST_1MCDSbeRAT6goaCUuNETSa8CwfhrrnJJjgtTKzx3wWNZ7tG9aa8P1wptnXAkmW6TXPoNoeVg8pE5Aga/s320/IMG_5379.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next up are the Python HEAT Vipers. I really like the colors of these guys. The Python camo patterns and the gold colors really make these guys pop. I'm not real crazy about the modern update of the HEAT Viper. Decent, but they just didn't interest me enough to buy all of those extra Blowtorch figures. Still, this is a nice little set of the HEAT Vipers.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGP1TkL7dfpGU_EHdRqSWVFMckkvWE1ysTft21oozONWK9KKKjyv3o9o3PV9KRdOdhPW4MbhdA398Oe9snG7d9P_lzHXuXxruG3Xtl4NSCSlXJaqjXkb2R1kfbMi8dOPtNe1oPj5fhd7Tj/s1600/IMG_5380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1448" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGP1TkL7dfpGU_EHdRqSWVFMckkvWE1ysTft21oozONWK9KKKjyv3o9o3PV9KRdOdhPW4MbhdA398Oe9snG7d9P_lzHXuXxruG3Xtl4NSCSlXJaqjXkb2R1kfbMi8dOPtNe1oPj5fhd7Tj/s320/IMG_5380.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For the last of the trooper figures, we have the Laser Vipers. This is the same build as the Laser Vipers from the BF2000 set from last year. The prime difference is the inclusion of the more accurate backpacks, similar to the original design. The Club also had a three pack of these backpacks in silver for the Laser Vipers from last year. There's a missing paint app on these figures. The pupils were missed in painting. Plus one more error described below.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There was also a two-pack(?) of Python Rock Vipers. I'm not sure which other figures were two or three packs. Doesn't matter much to me, I didn't buy any of them. Never liked any version of the Rock Viper.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghTB369C-FLEiJ2MuoCojw5pRrBmJFO1oxoqHSFKCaMNvY37eIXe4TD8U4-yEMN7Mm89AU6GcV85UeSNQuo8au0D-swN0J9Y_TLPcRLUa_EODljPhKXoctfMReZxNGnw0-5LF9SfQEOg_F/s1600/IMG_5381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="726" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghTB369C-FLEiJ2MuoCojw5pRrBmJFO1oxoqHSFKCaMNvY37eIXe4TD8U4-yEMN7Mm89AU6GcV85UeSNQuo8au0D-swN0J9Y_TLPcRLUa_EODljPhKXoctfMReZxNGnw0-5LF9SfQEOg_F/s320/IMG_5381.JPG" width="193" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Well, this is certainly a crappy picture of Major Bludd. I'll have to go back and upload a new picture. Mixed feelings about Bludd. I really like the character and I think that the Club did a decent job with the build, based on what Hasbro has available for them to use. That's the problem. Hasbro did a 25th version, with a couple variations, and abandoned the character. He should have gotten a PoC/30th update. The Club, trying to call back to that original figure, went with the crappy robot/armored arm from that 25th figure. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Nearly everything else works with this version of Bludd. The web gear looks great. The rest of the body is made up of newer parts, and there's even a new head sculpt. (crappy picture aside...)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">And here's the other paint error. The factory forgot to paint his mustache. Bludd has to have his mustache! The Club is in the process of making things right. They will be getting new Bludd and Laser Viper heads to all of the attendees who have these sets sometime in the near future.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Sucks a bit for those resellers who tried to sell off their sets at the show. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Aww... too bad...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I kinda' like the Cobra forces a little better than the Joe team from the boxed set. I've always liked the Python Patrol theme anyway. Very slick paint design!</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-61396944330837323002018-07-19T13:33:00.003-05:002018-07-19T14:51:09.661-05:00JoeCon 2018: Slaughter's Marauders<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So the big complaint about the last JoeCon 3 3/4" set was "where's Sgt. Slaughter?" For the simpletons out there, there is such a thing as licensed characters. Hasbro had the license to use Sgt Slaughter, but no longer does. The Club decided to go with the theme of Slaughter's Marauders for the last set for whatever reason.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Personally, I never liked any of the Slaughter's Marauders figures when they first appeared in their original o-ring versions. Nearly all of the sub-teams were easy repaints primarily designed to sell more product. Hasbro excelled at doing that. Of the main ones that I can think of, Tiger Force, Night Force, Slaughter's Marauders, and Python Patrol, Slaughter's Marauders seemed to be the laziest in terms of the repaint designs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Whatever. I don't know why the Club chose the Marauder theme, but I was intrigued enough to get on board for this last set. Hell, this was the last JoeCon, in Chattanooga (90 minutes away), and I certainly wasn't going to turn my nose up at it. Could there have been a better last JoeCon set? Probably, but who cares now?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So enough of the armchair quarterback play calling and on to some simple reviews of the characters.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRRwfFObNzyzTJxt7hXWfMPI0TH_ZIuVDsZA-wyEmMMH-txAsQt2Ey3tt5gjT1EddGO5m00tG4WFM_3-ouRDVFu9JdcaNwTn3Bbtrpl5XHCpEjJkcJeKZDfSS0Kdi3lmXsNIDcvEM-oZya/s1600/IMG_5382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="744" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRRwfFObNzyzTJxt7hXWfMPI0TH_ZIuVDsZA-wyEmMMH-txAsQt2Ey3tt5gjT1EddGO5m00tG4WFM_3-ouRDVFu9JdcaNwTn3Bbtrpl5XHCpEjJkcJeKZDfSS0Kdi3lmXsNIDcvEM-oZya/s400/IMG_5382.JPG" width="247" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">First up is Hardball. (Wait! He never was on the Marauder team!! - Piss off) Not a bad build, decent use of parts. Marauder color pattern looks decent enough. Sure, it's Renegade Ripcord's head, but who really cares? Good job on this one.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUd-6Te2cd__J9u5cpkf_f8qMWZu2NXQli3_kEDhUpxtI_Y351bkvssnKmPE1H3rR4dNbradn2vzjoT-eM1JVy5xX_dlAda2ysYN9D5a8YJkAFkrFgPQ3peWxWW-VXbEAK6AIbuMtYkzOk/s1600/IMG_5383.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="848" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUd-6Te2cd__J9u5cpkf_f8qMWZu2NXQli3_kEDhUpxtI_Y351bkvssnKmPE1H3rR4dNbradn2vzjoT-eM1JVy5xX_dlAda2ysYN9D5a8YJkAFkrFgPQ3peWxWW-VXbEAK6AIbuMtYkzOk/s400/IMG_5383.JPG" width="282" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next we have Spirit with a new head sculpt. I'm not real crazy about the head sculpt, but I am kinda glad that the Club avoided using the 50th/PoC/Billy Spirit head sculpt. That's a great head sculpt, but it's been a bit over used. Not a bad figure, but not one of the best.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkiZn1MIEAg_fZVV8IkPaRH3VavLa-SWHqg8zXrLpB37h3RC0OfS3Gzj8pM8s8wOODZuF_gR_s0Bw6IAi7tBG_GKpmQZJZy93tyOr7L-sOb8ToaTXX6ON5qc8RU59y5xCF5BMLD2yK6wYQ/s1600/IMG_5384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="965" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkiZn1MIEAg_fZVV8IkPaRH3VavLa-SWHqg8zXrLpB37h3RC0OfS3Gzj8pM8s8wOODZuF_gR_s0Bw6IAi7tBG_GKpmQZJZy93tyOr7L-sOb8ToaTXX6ON5qc8RU59y5xCF5BMLD2yK6wYQ/s320/IMG_5384.JPG" width="257" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Mutt and Junkyard. Straight reuse of the entire 25th Anniversary mold. Ugh. Honestly, not a bad figure, but I wish that the Club could have come up with a different build for the body, maybe using more of the modern era parts, beyond the 25th figures.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibNQFg5FWUOki0haWIR9VnvMdQ26gdeFiM8KKwZ3_PqMAGYYrqPXiwIcSwWiyN9E7r8yVJFPMkK0JyQCx1dQf44DMPMvDr5Igtv9adpv79Ef9IoizQnOSUjyQwiFgLLhp-xqMnPkVX9KeO/s1600/IMG_5385.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="689" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibNQFg5FWUOki0haWIR9VnvMdQ26gdeFiM8KKwZ3_PqMAGYYrqPXiwIcSwWiyN9E7r8yVJFPMkK0JyQCx1dQf44DMPMvDr5Igtv9adpv79Ef9IoizQnOSUjyQwiFgLLhp-xqMnPkVX9KeO/s400/IMG_5385.JPG" width="228" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Next we have Footloose. Looks like a straight reuse of the build that they did for their membership figure from several years ago. Honestly, I wasn't really crazy about that figure either. The head sculpt kicks ass. Looks very Magnum PI "ish". Decent figure.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYBUGFWxRfd8Kdb9Hg9Hj9-hIT1UdYyReK-9yJL0ptb-Qpi5eJW07YU3J79BH0GR2H_j94rEoU8g7XS9HbDmhiXTEBTwps0PxeUjXoKDuhh_xTKoPt2CQ0V6pnpccT4hcjDDkan9QEB9RG/s1600/IMG_5388.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="707" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYBUGFWxRfd8Kdb9Hg9Hj9-hIT1UdYyReK-9yJL0ptb-Qpi5eJW07YU3J79BH0GR2H_j94rEoU8g7XS9HbDmhiXTEBTwps0PxeUjXoKDuhh_xTKoPt2CQ0V6pnpccT4hcjDDkan9QEB9RG/s400/IMG_5388.JPG" width="235" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Finally we have <strike>Sgt Slaughter</strike>.... no, wait, this is Sgt Smasher, the new drill instructor for the Joe Team. Decent build. They Club used the Heavy Duty/Bazooka body and I'm pleased with that choice. I'm glad that they didn't go back to the Rock/Roadblock big huge body for this guy. That's a great body, but it's getting to be a bit overused. I like the character and the build, but again, it's Slaughter's Marauders, my least favorite GI Joe sub-team.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Overall, the set is really not that great. Honestly, I like the BF2000 set from last year a little better. Bu then again, I've only got these last two sets from the last two JoeCons, so I'm quite grateful that I have both of them and that I was able to be at both shows.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Still, I'd give a hearty THANK YOU to all of the staff at the official GI Joe Club and their Hasbro supporters for all of their hard work over the past 20 plus years. Well done!</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4200220088848935842.post-66230151464947599282018-07-13T08:51:00.001-05:002018-07-13T08:51:45.723-05:00Where are the new posts?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibASFlblELvceuqlFdcmQuz-aKLQbw5YivrjD6ejDoYLIZRq9LVfC2UR3AiBN9vtiHh4phElCW7-YnbSCknUrxw-uylv0A76ltjRDmdUiOhP0q7TOGkWmi1EcYcRE-qRG2blMFLQ0thu7D/s1600/IMG_2726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibASFlblELvceuqlFdcmQuz-aKLQbw5YivrjD6ejDoYLIZRq9LVfC2UR3AiBN9vtiHh4phElCW7-YnbSCknUrxw-uylv0A76ltjRDmdUiOhP0q7TOGkWmi1EcYcRE-qRG2blMFLQ0thu7D/s320/IMG_2726.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Why does this blog suck so bad? Why can't I update and add new posts on a regular basis?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Easy answer... I'm lazy. Creating blog posts take extra work. There are photos to edit, content to write... it takes a little extra effort to create blog posts.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Social media, like Facebook and Instagram, are relatively quick and easy. Very little thought involved. Some could argue that that is the problem with social media. Nearly everyone posts quickly, with little or no thought behind their content or the potential repercussions of what they post.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Blah, blah, blah... ultimately, I just don't invest the time into this blog that is needed. Plus blogs seem to be evolving. They still have some merit, but they are becoming less relevant. Videos seem to be the next step in blog/vlog evolution. Don't know if I'll move to that step or not.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I do have quite a bit of content to post. There's quite a few posts regarding JoeCon 2018. Plus FSS 7.0 started shipping. Warriors of the Animal Kingdom figures. A few new toys here and there.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm out of town this week, mainly traveling with my wife on a couple business trips. I'll have some down time at hotels that I could put to good use.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hopefully, there will be new posts in the days ahead.</span>Legendary Tom Brookshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07035518453104276278noreply@blogger.com0
