Well, at least to me personally. There's extra work involved in blog posts, so I've let this blog drift off into near oblivion.
When I do go back to this blog, I see my last post about my dear lost friend and I'm sad all over again. But life goes on. I still miss Alan dearly and always will. As a mutual friend said, "we almost have to put him in the rearview mirror."
That seemed a bit harsh at first, but it's true. Alan is gone and he only exists in my memories.
Maybe I'll try a little harder to post more thoughts about action figures and other dumb toy stuff. My hiatus from this blog certainly didn't involve a hiatus from buying 1/12th action figures!
My collection has basically exploded over the past two years. I have expanded from just the G.I. Joe Classified series on into the Marvel Legends and the Star Wars Black series of figures.
I've collected bits and pieces of these three lines, always buying what I want and also looking for deals on Amazon.
For the G.I. Joe Classified line, I mainly buy what interests me the most. I don't buy quite everything. I've passed on all of the HasLab offerings. Price is no longer an issue for me, but space is now an issue. My wife and I have downsized quite a bit to a small two bedroom house. I just don't have the space to display those big vehicles.
But I did recently buy five of the Cobra-La Royal Guard!!! Such an awesome figure! I need to do a post on this figure! Plus Nemesis Enforcer and Pythona!
For the Marvel Legends figures, I've gone the path of prices. While I will often buy a current figure (like Wolverine in his brown suit), I often search for deals on Amazon. Oliie's is also my new favorite store. Sometimes, they will have awesome prices on discontinued figures. Not so much this most recent Christmas season.
My Marvel collection is largely made up of second string characters, with very few of the primary characters. I did snag the Thunderbolts two-packs when they went on sale on Amazon. I really wanted Sentry and I was weak and bought the Yelena Belova & Red Guardian two-pack as well. Beautiful head sculpts on all of these figures!
For the Star Wars Black series, I have mostly bought discounted figures from either Ollie's or Amazon. The Star Wars Black Series figures seem to be a slightly different scale than the Classified or Marvel figures.
Marvel and Classified can work well together, but the Star Wars figures are a bit too short.
I don't even have a Darth Vader figure in my Star Wars collection! The closest figure I have is Anakin Skywalker as a kid. No R2-D2, C-3PO, or even a Luke Skywalker!
Lots of discounted Mandalorian characters recently added to the collection.
I do have Jaxon, the green rabbit! I also had to get Dash Rendar and Kyle Katarn added to my collection!
That's about enough of a free-wheeling mind-dump for one post. I've got lots of ideas about new posts from all three lines!
Stay tuned! Maybe I can get this blog rolling again!
